Pentaèdre-Youkali Competition

The Pentaèdre wind quintet is pleased to present its 7th edition of the Pentaèdre-Youkali Competition, celebrating the great tradition of musical performance for winds. 

 Presented in partnership with the Faculté de Musique of the Université de Montréal and the Youkali Foundation, the competition will be held on May 2nd 2026 at the Serge-Garant Hall of the Faculté de musique of the Université de Montréal (200 Vincent-d'Indy avenue, Montreal). Dedicated to wind players students of all age, the Competition is divided into two categories: Solo, and Chamber Music.

Several prizes in the form of bursaries and professional opportunities will be awarded by our generous donors.

Launched in 2012, the Competition aims to offer support to wind players—flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn players—and showcase their repertoire. Past winners include bassoonists Antoine St-Onge (Principal Bassoon with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra) and Thomas Roy-Rochelle (2nd bassoon, National Ballets of Canada Orchestra), flutist Félicia Lévesque (Principal flute of the Saskatoon symphony orchestra), as well as oboists Flavie Lacoste and Élise Poulin and flutist Ariane Brisson, the two last being both today members of Pentaèdre.

President of the Jury - 7th Edition

Evolving in the field of classical music and cultural events for more than 30 years, Danièle LeBlanc is recognized for her ability to lead national events. Her interest in activities dedicated to young audiences as well as the development of young professional artists has marked her career. Executive and Artistic Director of Jeunesses Musicales Canada, she also worked for the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal supervising educational projects and the OSM Competition. She has also been General Coordinator for the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute. 

Prior to her move to management, she led a prominent international career as a guest mezzo with North American, European and Mexican opera houses, broadcasters and producers. She is the recipient of a dozen vocal national and international prizes and scholarships. 

A guest panelist for a variety of radio programs, she was a cultural reporter for the radio morning show on the Première chaîne of the French Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Conference speaker, Danièle LeBlanc is also a host and a performer to young audiences, for symphonic concert projects.
