A few words about the composers presented

Òscar Navarro
Navarro studied composition and conducting at the Allegro International Music Academy, in Valencia, with his mentor and friend Ferrer Ferrán. Soon after, he was chosen by the prestigious Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, USA) to study film and television soundtrack composition and record his music in some of Los Angeles' most renowned studios, including Capitol Records, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. His music has also been recorded in European studios (including the kyiv Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Macedonia Symphony Orchestra and the Cordoba Symphony Orchestra in Spain).

Joaquín Turina
Born in Seville in 1882, Turina studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris with Vincent d’Indy. Alongside Manuel de Falla, he met impressionists Debussy and Ravel. In 1914, he dedicated himself to composition, teaching, and music criticism. As a conductor, he worked with Diaghilev’s Ballet Russes. In 1935, he was named academic chairperson at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid.
Turina’s music mixes influences from impressionism, flamenco, and Andalusian tradition. His diverse output includes music for solo guitar and solo piano, chamber ensembles, orchestra, and singers with art songs and two operas.
About the works
Juego de Ladrones
Suite for wind quintet inspired by the short story Rinconete and Cortadillo by Miguel de Cervantes, published in 1612. This short story recounts the adventures of two fifteen-year-old teenagers, Pedro del Ricón and Diego Cortado, who, having left their homes and respective families, become friends in a tavern on the road between Toledo and Córdoba. Both decide to team up and go in search of wealth and freedom. One day, they meet a group of travelers from Seville, criminals, and want to join them. To do this, the two boys must be introduced to Monipodio, leader of a band of thieves, who gives them the names “Rinconete” and “Cortadillo”.
"In this suite, I wanted to capture in music the essence of Cervantes' work by describing the main characters and places where the action takes place while leaving room for the imagination since it is almost impossible to musically transpose all the adventures and misadventures of Rinconete and Cortadillo."

We are excited that the restaurant La Confrérie has created a tailor-made menu for the event! At their restaurant in the heart of Vieux-Terrebonne, their chef makes it his mission to design an original, bistro-style menu that is always affordable. Changing with the seasons, and ranging from the well-loved to well-refined, his dishes know how to impress. The same goes for their selection of privately imported wines, craft beers, and house cocktails.
