Suite for wind quintet inspired by the short story Rinconete and Cortadillo by Miguel de Cervantes, published in 1612. This short story recounts the adventures of two fifteen-year-old teenagers, Pedro del Ricón and Diego Cortado, who, having left their homes and respective families, become friends in a tavern on the road between Toledo and Córdoba. Both decide to team up and go in search of wealth and freedom. One day, they meet a group of travelers from Seville, criminals, and want to join them. To do this, the two boys must be introduced to Monipodio, leader of a band of thieves, who gives them the names “Rinconete” and “Cortadillo”.
"In this suite, I wanted to capture in music the essence of Cervantes' work by describing the main characters and places where the action takes place while leaving room for the imagination since it is almost impossible to musically transpose all the adventures and misadventures of Rinconete and Cortadillo."
